Timothy Hart Williams, Sr. was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on February 6, 1869. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1900 and worked in the mercantile business until his death on March 19, 1954. He was the head of the firm of T. H. Williams & Company until his son, T. H. Williams, Jr., took over active management in the 1940s.
